This special was aired on WPIX-TV (channel 11) in NYC back on July 4th, 1990. The first hour was at 8PM and the final hour was at 10PM, it was originally going to be a 2-hour special, so they split them up into two hour-long segments to make way for the “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” at 9PM and continued with this special at 10PM.

What I wouldn't give for Disney to make a movie based on the Bremen Town Musicians, a movie based on Rudyard Kipling's Just So Stories, and a movie based on Mother Goose rhymes.

It was so kind of Disney to showcase a version of a canceled event like this.

I loved this show when it was around. Not the barges, necessarily, but the show itself was fantastic. Really sad I didn't get to visit while it was running.

Anisa Kintz’s story reminded me of what happened in Los Angeles in 1992, the Rodney King controversy made racism a big issue in our country in the early 90s, & here were are over 30 years later, & a certain TV show I grew up with has a new initiative to help kids stand up for racial justice. Happy 4th of July to our Disney friends.

16:17 now of course that was fake, the man didn't really get eaten by the crocodile and also the animals on the Jungle Cruise are fake, what they did was they made a fake arm and a fake shirt and they put that in the fake crocodile's mouth and also the man's family would've sued Disneyland if that really happened and also you don't see blood in that shot, that reveals that he didn't get eaten.

The Crew loved working on this event so much! We shot everything once the park was closed and it was very chilly. I remember George having to be under a blanket when he wasn't in his dressing room or on set.

Davy Feiten was my Mentor, at Disney! So gorgeous, and so talented! He had me tripping all over myself, with nervous knots!! Those were the days! I was so excstatically happy!! I wanted to and became a beloved Animator with a loving following and fanbase! Even Mark Hamill was a personal fan of mine! I Miss Davy, and those days...hanging out inside Pirates and Splash Mountain while he worked!!!

Nostalgia really does paper over all wounds. Me and my family, who typically loved everything the parks were doing at this time, hated DCA when it opened. I still don't have much nostalgia for it until Tower of Terror opened.
